NIST-Backed Quantum-Resistant Bridging Module to Accelerate PQC Transition

Our team at Secure Micro Technologies team is energized by our collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to help drive the national transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). Together, we are introducing Itus Bridge™, a groundbreaking cryptographic bridging solution that enables secure, scalable interoperability between legacy encryption systems and networks adopting NIST’s newly standardized PQC algorithms.

Itus Bridge™ is a hybrid hardware-software module designed to operate at both the network edge and within core infrastructure nodes. It supports dual-stack cryptographic operations, allowing simultaneous handling of classical and quantum-resistant traffic. Key capabilities include:

  • Integration of NIST-standardized PQC algorithms (e.g., CRYSTALS-Kyber, CRYSTALS-Dilithium)
  • Support for legacy encryption protocols (e.g., RSA, ECC, AES-GCM)
  • A dynamic key negotiation and translation layer
  • A secure enclave-based execution environment
  • A real-time traffic classification and routing engine

This architecture ensures that defense and critical infrastructure networks can maintain operational continuity while incrementally upgrading cryptographic primitives. We are engineering the module for deployment in SCADA systems, tactical communications, secure cloud environments, and embedded defense platforms.

As the President & CEO, Heather Kinsy, put it:

“The Itus Bridge™ module addresses a critical gap in the PQC transition roadmap, secure coexistence. Our collaboration with NIST ensures that the module adheres to federal cryptographic standards while remaining adaptable to mission-specific constraints.”

To validate performance and integration feasibility, we will be launching an Early Adopter Program for defense contractors, federal agencies, and industrial control system operators. Participants will receive prototype modules, technical documentation, and direct access to our engineering team for feedback and customization.

The program will evaluate:

  • Latency and throughput under mixed cryptographic loads
  • Compatibility with existing network stacks and security appliances
  • Resilience against quantum-era threat models
  • Deployment in zero-trust and segmented architectures.

This initiative directly supports NIST’s broader PQC standardization efforts and aligns with the DoD’s cybersecurity modernization goals under Zero Trust and CMMC 2.0 frameworks.
